Overview

A leading US law firm is seeking a mid-level Corporate Energy Transactions Associate to join its growing London team. This is a growth hire within a highly regarded energy practice, offering broad exposure to corporate, projects and commercial matters across the global energy sector.

This is not a pure project finance role. The team is looking for a lawyer who wants to build a long-term career in energy transactions, with work spanning M&A, project development, joint ventures, commercial contracts and related sector-specific arrangements.

What You’ll Do

  • Advise on complex energy-sector transactions across corporate, projects and commercial work.
  • Work on M&A, joint ventures, project development matters and commercial arrangements.
  • Support cross-border mandates across key international energy markets.
  • Work closely with a broad partner group rather than being tied to a single partner.
  • Take on meaningful responsibility within a collaborative, specialist team.
  • Develop rounded experience across upstream, midstream, downstream and broader energy-related matters.

About You

  • 3-6 PQE.
  • Strong experience in energy, natural resources or closely related sector-focused transactional work.
  • Background from a Magic Circle, Silver Circle, leading US firm, recognised energy practice or relevant in-house environment.
  • Strong academic record from a leading university.
  • Able to discuss transaction experience clearly, including deal structure, key issues and your role on matters.
  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career within the energy sector.
  • French or Spanish language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.

Why Apply?

  • Join a specialist energy practice with a strong reputation for high-quality international work.
  • Work on sophisticated corporate, projects and commercial transactions across the energy sector.
  • Benefit from the platform and resources of a major US firm, combined with the autonomy of a successful London office.
  • Gain broad exposure across partners, clients and transaction types in a non-siloed team structure.
  • Join a collaborative, supportive team with a strong emphasis on trust, flexibility and responsibility.
  • Develop within a practice that invests in its lawyers and offers direct partner access.
  • Build international experience across markets including Africa, the Middle East and the US.
