Overview

A growing London restructuring and insolvency team at a leading transatlantic law firm is seeking a Senior Associate with 5-7 PQE to take on a high-responsibility role across complex domestic and cross-border mandates.

This is an opportunity for a technically strong lawyer to lead matters from day one, working closely with partners on both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work. The successful candidate will join a lean, ambitious team with a strong pipeline of work and increasing access to larger, more sophisticated international mandates.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead restructuring and insolvency matters with minimal partner supervision.
  • Advise a broad range of stakeholders, including lenders, directors, insolvency practitioners, private equity sponsors, distressed investors and corporates.
  • Work across both contentious and non-contentious mandates, including financial distress, directors’ duties, contingency planning and restructuring options.
  • Support distressed M&A transactions, including cross-border coordination where required.
  • Draft and negotiate restructuring and insolvency documentation, including enforcement documents, security reviews, administration sale agreements and court applications.
  • Collaborate across practice groups and contribute to business development, knowledge sharing and the continued growth of the team.

About You

  • 5-7 PQE, with strong London restructuring and insolvency experience.
  • Able to operate confidently at Senior Associate level and manage transactions independently.
  • Experienced across both contentious and non-contentious restructuring and insolvency work.
  • Strong understanding of insolvency law, financial documentation and corporate structures.
  • Comfortable advising boards and stakeholders on complex financial distress situations.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and client communication skills.
  • Commercially minded, organised and able to manage multiple matters to a high standard.
  • Cross-border insolvency experience and awareness of sector-specific regulatory issues would be advantageous.
  • Candidates from private practice or in-house backgrounds will be considered, provided they have maintained the required level of restructuring and insolvency experience.

Why Apply?

  • Join a growing team with a strong flow of high-quality restructuring and insolvency work.
  • Benefit from immediate responsibility in a lean team where Senior Associates play a visible role.
  • Work on increasingly complex, cross-border mandates through a developing transatlantic platform.
  • Gain close partner access, strong development opportunities and scope to contribute meaningfully to the future growth of the practice.
  • Hybrid working model, currently three days in the office and two from home.
