An elite U.S. law firm is looking for a mid-level Litigation Associate to join its New York office.

The firm advises a sophisticated client base that includes investment funds, financial institutions, asset managers, multinational corporations and other market-leading businesses. The Litigation & Investigations team is recognised for handling high-stakes disputes, government investigations and regulatory enforcement matters across a range of industries, with particular strength in the financial services sector.

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded practice that offers meaningful responsibility, direct client contact and exposure to significant domestic and cross-border matters from the outset.

The Role

Associates in this team work across a broad spectrum of litigation and investigations matters, including government enforcement actions, internal investigations, regulatory inquiries and complex commercial disputes. Matters frequently involve interaction with federal and state regulatory agencies, as well as proceedings before state and federal courts.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Representing corporate and individual clients in government investigations, enforcement proceedings and regulatory inquiries.
  • Assisting clients in responding to investigations conducted by agencies including the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission and other federal and state regulators.
  • Conducting internal investigations involving compliance, governance and potential misconduct issues.
  • Managing and supporting complex commercial litigation matters, including securities, bankruptcy-related and financial services disputes.
  • Drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, witness outlines, legal memoranda and client communications.
  • Conducting legal research and developing litigation strategies.
  • Managing all aspects of discovery, including document review, production, witness preparation and deposition support.
  • Taking and defending depositions as experience permits.
  • Supporting trial teams through all phases of litigation, arbitration and mediation proceedings.
  • Working closely with partners and clients on strategic decision-making and case management.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will possess:

  • JD from a leading law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Class years 2020–2022.
  • Prior experience gained at a leading law firm, government agency or a combination of both.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • White collar defence and investigations
    • Regulatory enforcement
    • Securities litigation
    • Commercial litigation
    • Financial services disputes
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical and advocacy skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • New York Bar admission.
  • Federal court experience is advantageous but not essential.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to develop a broad and sophisticated disputes practice spanning investigations, regulatory matters and commercial litigation. Associates benefit from working in leanly staffed teams, receiving substantial client exposure and taking on meaningful responsibility at an early stage in their careers.

The position is particularly well suited to candidates seeking a combination of high-quality litigation work, regulatory exposure and direct involvement in complex matters for leading financial institutions, investment funds and multinational businesses.
