Overview

An elite US law firm is looking to appoint an exceptional Competition Associate to join its Brussels office. The role offers exposure to a wide spectrum of EU competition law matters, with the opportunity to work closely with partners and clients on complex, high-profile, and often precedent-setting cases.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an associate with 3–5 years’ PQE who is keen to develop their practice within a market-leading US platform, renowned for its technical excellence, cross-border expertise, and strong international reputation.

What You’ll Do

• Advise clients on all aspects of EU competition law, including merger control, antitrust investigations, cartel matters and abuse of dominance.
• Represent clients before the European Commission and other EU and national competition authorities.
• Support clients on competition aspects of complex cross-border transactions and strategic investments.
• Draft and review legal submissions, notifications, briefing papers and internal compliance materials.
• Conduct legal and economic analysis in support of contentious and non-contentious competition matters.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across international offices and related practice areas.
• Assist with business development initiatives, including client briefings, pitches and thought leadership.

About You

• 3–5 years’ PQE with experience in EU competition law gained at a leading international or US law firm.
• Strong academic background, with a law degree from a top-tier institution.
• Excellent technical knowledge of EU competition and antitrust law.
• Prior experience dealing with the European Commission and EU merger control processes.
• Commercial, analytical and confident in handling complex matters.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an international team.
• Fluency in English required; additional European languages are an advantage.
