Overview
An elite US law firm is seeking an NQ–3PQE Associate to join its growing London restructuring practice.

The successful candidate will work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border matters spanning financial restructurings, liability management, recapitalisations, stressed and distressed situations, insolvency proceedings and distressed M&A.

The practice advises stakeholders across the capital structure, including creditor groups, financial sponsors, companies, investors, lenders and insolvency practitioners. This opening is specifically intended to strengthen the junior level of a highly experienced team.

What You’ll Do
  • Advise on complex financial and corporate restructurings.
  • Act on creditor, sponsor and debtor-side mandates.
  • Support liability management exercises and recapitalisations.
  • Work on schemes of arrangement, restructuring plans and formal insolvency processes.
  • Advise on stressed and distressed financings, enforcement matters and distressed transactions.
  • Collaborate with private equity, leveraged finance, capital markets and private credit specialists.
  • Contribute to significant cross-border matters alongside colleagues in Europe and the United States.
  • Work closely with senior partners and receive substantial responsibility from an early stage.
About You
  • England and Wales qualified, or due to qualify shortly.
  • NQ–3PQE, with candidates above this level unlikely to be considered.
  • Trained and retained by a well-regarded UK law firm.
  • Genuine restructuring experience gained during a training contract or in post-qualification practice.
  • Strong academic credentials and an excellent training background.
  • Commercially minded, technically capable and comfortable working on complex, fast-moving matters.
  • Able to collaborate effectively across complementary finance and corporate practices.
For NQ candidates, a strong restructuring seat and evidence of retention will be particularly important. Candidates at 2–3PQE should be able to demonstrate substantive restructuring experience, ideally involving creditor groups, liability management, private credit or complex cross-border matters.

Why Apply?
  • Join a rapidly expanding London restructuring practice.
  • Gain close exposure to a highly experienced senior team.
  • Work on major cross-border restructurings, recapitalisations and liability management transactions.
  • Develop experience across creditor, investor, sponsor and debtor-side mandates.
  • Benefit from an integrated international platform and strong links with private equity, finance and capital markets teams.
  • Receive market-leading remuneration and access to a competitive bonus structure.
  • Progress through a streamlined interview process, typically comprising two partner-led stages.
