Overview

A leading international law firm is looking for a highly qualified Associate to join its Data Centers + Digital Infrastructure practice, with a focus on energy, regulatory, and infrastructure matters. This role offers the opportunity to advise some of the world’s largest technology companies, infrastructure funds, developers, and energy providers on the rapidly evolving legal and commercial landscape surrounding hyperscale data centers and digital infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex transactions and regulatory matters related to power procurement, utility regulation, renewable energy, transmission, and large-scale infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on energy and regulatory issues impacting data center development and operations
  • Structure and negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, and utility service arrangements
  • Counsel clients on federal and state energy regulatory frameworks, including matters before utility commissions and federal agencies
  • Support acquisitions, financings, and joint ventures involving digital infrastructure assets
  • Conduct due diligence for energy and infrastructure transactions
  • Work closely with corporate, real estate, environmental, and project finance teams on multidisciplinary matters
  • Monitor and analyze evolving regulatory developments affecting AI infrastructure, cloud computing, and hyperscale facilities

Qualifications

  • J.D. from a top-tier law school with strong academic credentials
  • Admitted to practice in the applicable jurisdiction or eligible to waive in
  • 3–6 years of relevant law firm experience in energy, infrastructure, or regulatory law
  • Experience advising on utility, power, or renewable energy matters preferred
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and client management skills
  • Ability to manage sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment
